About Me
Hi, my name is Austin. I was an professional Chinese-English conference interpreter. I have always been a tech enthusiast. However, I always thought programming was too difficult for someone who do not have a formal computer science background. Everything about writing codes just seemed so intimidating. At the end of 2024, I had the idea of pivoting to a career in software development. And, I finally decided to take the plunge.
My previous self-doubt quickly evaporated. I started with Python, and then moved on to HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Being able to create something from scratch and watch it run was an exhilarating experience. My only regret was that I did not try sooner! I enrolled in an online web development boot camp, where I was asked to complete weekly projects but was expected to figure out how to accomplish them entirely on my own.
After six months of intensive training, I am ready to look for a position as a front-end developer. What I enjoy the most about my journey so far is that there is new things to learn everyday. This is unlike being an interpreter, who is expected to stay up-to-date with the latest news and trends. I guess I am motivated by being challenged and learning new things. And I hope I can find success on this new journey.
